The Engendering Disability-Inclusive Development – Genre, handicap et développement inclusif (EDID-GHDI) partnership is pleased to announce the launch of the first of four videos in a video vignette series created to explore the breadth of the partnership, the knowledge and leadership of women with disabilities, the connections between research and policy, and the experiences of students and emerging researchers. The series shares a human-centred approach to working with women with disabilities to create knowledge, strengthen leadership, and advance rights and justice.
EDID-GHDI brings together researchers, civil society organizations, and governments in Haiti, Vietnam, South Africa and Canada, along with transnational and cross-country initiatives, to advance the rights and inclusion of women and girls with disabilities.
At the heart of this work are diverse people, relationships, and shared experiences that have shaped the partnership so far and will continue to shape the partnership goals moving forward. This four-part video vignette series brings together voices from across EDID-GHDI to reflect on what collaboration across countries, organizations, and perspectives can make possible.
Vignette 1: A Global Partnership of and with Women and Girls with Disabilities
What does an international research partnership look like in practice? This first vignette introduces EDID-GHDI through the voices of researchers and partners working across countries, organizations, and sectors. They reflect on the relationships and shared learning that have developed through collaboration among researchers, civil society, governments, and women with disabilities.
This short video also highlights an important dimension of the partnership: women and young women with disabilities are not only participants in research, but also researchers and knowledge producers themselves, whose expertise and lived experience help shape the questions being asked, the knowledge created, and the possibilities for change.
