In November 2025, Humanity & Inclusion’s (HI) Making it Work initiative released a report, African Perspectives and Good Practices on Multiple and Intersectional Discrimination against Women and Girls with Disabilities. This report includes two related sections. The first portion of the report, African Perspectives on Multiple and Intersectional Discrimination against Women and Girls with Disabilities, provides responses to questions raised by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) Committee, related to the legal framework and the lived experiences of women with disabilities. The second portion of the report, African Good Practices: Informing the CRPD Guidelines on Addressing Multiple and Intersectional Forms of Discrimination against Women and Girls with Disabilities, introduces successful practices to address the multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination faced by women and girls with disabilities. The report was collaboratively authored by Disabled Women in Africa (DIWA) and Humanity & Inclusion – Making It Work Gender and Disability project (HI – MIW).

The report expands on and consolidates two reports that were submitted to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on October 31, 2025. These reports were in response to a call made for written submissions on draft guidelines on addressing multiple and intersectional forms of discrimination against women and girls with disabilities.
