In November 2025, Deborah Stienstra’s open access article “Bringing feminist disability knowledge to Canada’s global policies” was published in the International Journal: Canada’s Journal of Global Policy Analysis. The journal article discusses how Canadian feminist disability activists have historically reshaped inaccessible policy spaces for their participation.
On March 9, 2026, a blog version of this article was released on Open Canada, “Women with disabilities have been misfitting in Canada’s foreign policy for thirty years.” This blog is a condensed and digestible version of the article, and explores the history of women and girls with disabilities making a space for themselves in Canadian policy and practice.
